Impact Jiu Jitsu McMinnville is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy that is part of the Impact network of gyms, including 17 locations: Beaverton (HQ), Ashland, Clackamas, Hillsboro, Hood River, Klamath Falls, McMinnville, Newberg, Portland, Salem, Sherwood, and Wilsonville, Oregon, as well as Fountain Hills, Arizona; Honolulu, Hawaii; Fruitland, Idaho; Billings, Montana; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Impact Jiu Jitsu was founded by Michael Chapman.  Michael’s training in traditional martial arts began in 1984. In 1991, he began studying “Shooto” or Shoot Fighting in Japan, which sparked his interest in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. After returning to Oregon, Michael’s pursuit of Jiu Jitsu only grew, as did his desire to grow the sport. In 1998, he opened Impact Jiu Jitsu (known as SBG Beaverton until August 2006). Michael received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Chris Haueter in the Spring of 2004, and now holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Impact Jiu Jitsu McMinnville was opened in 2012 by John Goforth, who trains under Michael Chapman.
