Samantha Britton- Head Tumbling Coach

Samantha has been coaching cheerleading and tumbling for 11 years. She was a competitive cheerleader for McMinnville High School and cheered at George Fox University while earning her Bachelors in Exercise Science. When asked about her fondest memories from coaching, Samantha said, “watching an athlete discover confidence in themselves and their abilities and believe in themselves. They always trust me to spot them. It’s a beautiful thing when they finally trust themselves. I love watching how excited and proud they are when they accomplish a new skill or overcome a mental block. Some advice I would give my students is you can do hard things as soon as you can acknowledge your fears and push yourself out of your comfort zone. Your mind is greater than your fear.”

Samantha is married to her favorite person and is a mom to a baby girl. She is an animal lover and has three dogs. She dreams of living on a small farm one day. Samantha enjoys all things outdoors, swing dancing, and line dancing with her husband. She has been an athlete as long as she can remember and is passionate about health and fitness. Samantha says, “I like to push my limits physically and mentally to find my true potential and see what I am capable of. I’m an adrenaline junkie and have been skydiving as well as bungee jumping over and white-water rafting on the Nile River. I plan to summit a mountain this summer. An interesting fact about myself is that I can ride and do tricks on a unicycle.”

Mary Fast- Tumbling Coach

Mary became part of the Impact McMinnville family in 2023 when her girls joined the Impact youth program. After seeing so many positive changes in her daughters’ lives and being welcomed and immersed into the Impact family, she donned her Gi & white belt, bowed onto the mats, and joined in the adult Jiu Jitsu program herself.

Mary grew up as a competitive Irish Dancer and never forgets the feeling of accomplishment and pride knowing she just crushed a new move after drilling and practicing it for weeks on end. She knows all too well the influence sports and coaches can have on children as they navigate childhood and all the challenges it brings. She truly loves being on the mats with the kids - probably because she’s also a big kid at heart.

Mary has been the assistant coach since late 2023 and greatly enjoys being part of the team and working with the youth. She loves to be an encourager for the Impact youth, and hopes to build up a confidence in the kids that they can do anything they can put their mind to. Mary is an enthusiastic giver of high-fives and has a love for 80’s music.

Abby Cain- Tumbling Coach

Abby was born and raised in El Paso,TX, and moved to Oregon in 2018. Growing up, Abby played soccer on and off for about eight years, and ran track for about four years. Her nickname in middle school was Speedy Gonzales. Abby is a military wife, has been married for six years, and has two children. She found her passion working with kids in 2013 at a church she used to attend in Washington. From 2015 to 2018, she worked for the YMCA as a lead camp counselor as well as an assistant in the toddler and youth gymnastics and tumbling programs. Abby has also been a head teacher in a preschool program. An interesting fact about Abby is she is a self-proclaimed Disney freak.

When asked about her favorite coaching memory, Abby said, “I'll never forget. Coach Ali came up to me and said, ‘I had a vision of you in a black GI on the mats training, competing, and kicking butt.’ To be honest, I looked at him funny and said, ‘who me? Coach, I'm small; I can't do jiu-jitsu’. I am two years in and loving every second of it. Jiu-jitsu has helped me overcome some major storms in my life. It's helped me to be patient with myself. I was the girl who had to be the top dog and be perfect at sports. If I could pass along something to the youth, it is a Disney quote, ‘venture outside your comfort zone. The rewards are worth it.’ Rapunzel (Tangled).”
